59-year-old Benton Man Killed in Columbia County Accident

Columbia County, Pennsylvania (August 1, 2017) – A man aged 59 years from Benton was killed in a head-on crash Friday afternoon in Columbia County, according to the county coroner.

The fatal incident took place just before 3 p.m. July 28, on Route 487 in Stillwater Borough.

The man identified as William Swisher, 59, by Columbia County Coroner was heading northbound on SR 487 when his pickup truck hit a southbound pickup truck head-on.

Swisher had to be freed from the truck by first responders. He died while being transported to the hospital due to injuries that caused him a cardiac arrest.

As per the county coroner, Swisher died of chest, and abdominal trauma and hence ruled the death as accidental.

Authorities were still investigating the matter to determine the cause and liability.
