Michal Chana and His 4 Children Severely Injured in Clarion Township Car-Trailer Crash in Pennsylvania
Leah Hadassah, Yocheved Rivka, Gedalya David, Chava and Their Father Injured in I-80 Car-Trailer Collision
Clarion Township, Pennsylvania (August 22, 2017) – Four children of the driver of a minivan that collided with a tractor-trailer early Friday morning on the I-80 are currently in critical condition.
The collision occurred around 2:30 a.m. August 18 in Clarion Township as the family was making their way home after a vacation on the East Coast.
The police report shows that the driver failed to notice a tractor-trailer that was on the opposite side of the road. A portion of the trailer was sticking out into the street, which caused the minivan to ram into the trailer. The report shows that the airbags of the minivan expanded and its front was damaged.
The father, Michal Chana, of Cleveland, sustained light injuries from the crash since he wore a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Unfortunately, four of Chana’s children were severely injured in the collision. They were all seated in the rear seat.
The first responders administered first aid to the victims of the crash before transferring them to a local hospital. Out of the four, two were airlifted by helicopter.
Among those injured were 11-year-old Leah Hadassah, 7-year-old Chava, 5-year-old Yocheved Rivka, and 4-year-old Gedalya David. Chava and Leah Hadassah were seriously injured sustaining a traumatic brain injury and massive internal bleeding, respectively.
