Delmar, Delaware (August 7, 2017) – A male passenger was killed after two cars collide on Friday evening in Delmar, according to Public Information Officer.

The fatal accident took place at about 6:47 p.m. August 4, on CR66, also called Pepperbox Road at the intersection of SR30 also called Whitesville.

According to investigators, Mario Martinez-Jimenez, 32, of Mexico operating a 2002 Ford Expedition and was heading southbound on CR66 approaching a stop sign at the intersection 3 miles east of Delmar.

Martinez-Jimenez failed to stop at the stop sign the Expedition was hit on the left-hand side by a front of a 2011 Ford F-150, being driven by a Laurel man, 75, on Whitesville Road.

An unidentified male passenger in the rear seat in the Ford Expedition, who was not properly restrained at the time of the crash was pronounced dead at the crash site.

The victim’s identity had not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of Ford F-150, 75, was hospitalized at Peninsula Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released.

A male passenger, 28, in the Ford Expedition was taken to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A male passenger, 44, in the Expedition was airlifted to Baltimore Shock Trauma Center where he was treated for serious injuries.

Two male passengers aged, 34, and 21, in the Expedition, were taken to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center and were admitted for injuries.

The intersection of Pepperbox Road and Whitesville Road was blocked for about two hours for clearance and investigation.

The crash remained under investigation by the Delaware State Police Charges to determine cause and liabilities.
