Philadelphia Police Identify George James, 43, as Victim of Kelly Drive Motorcycle Crash in Fairmount Park

Fairmount Park, Pennsylvania (August 3, 2017) – Philadelphia police have released the name of a man who was killed in a fatal crash Wednesday night in Fairmount Park.

43-year-old George James who hailed from the 6400 block of Ross Street in Philadelphia lost his life after his motorcycle was hit by a car.

The crash occurred just before 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 2 on Kelly Drive, near Brewery Hill Drive.

According to police, a 2014 BMW sedan struck James’s 2005 Suzuki motorcycle for unknown reasons throwing him from his bike onto a grassy area.

James was transported to Hahnemann University Hospital where he died of his injuries a short time after the crash.

The driver of the BMW remained at the accident site and was cooperative with police as they did an investigation.

Authorities closed down Kelly Drive for several hours following the crash.
