Mustafa Elmitwalli, 14, Seriously Injured in Pedestrian Versus Train Crash in Juniata

Juniata, PA (July 21, 2017) – A boy was seriously injured in Juniata on Wednesday night after being hit by a train, according to police.

The accident occurred after 5 p.m. July 19, in the 3600 block of Castor Avenue.

The victim identified as a 14-year-old Mustafa Elmitwalli was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital and was reportedly in critical condition.

As per the police, a witness said the teen tried to jump on a CSX train, but he missed it and hurt his leg.

First responders arrived immediately to stabilize the teen and recover his leg. The responders had to force their way through fencing surrounding the tracks to get to the teen.

SEPTA’s Trenton Line was closed in both ways to pave the way for the investigation to continue. Service resumed at some time before 6:30 p. m.

Authorities are still investigating the crash to determine cause and liabilities.
