Phillip West Killed, Christopher Boyd and Shamika Trice Injured Two-Car Crash on Vine Street Expressway Crash

Center City, Philadelphia (July 4, 2017) – One person was killed and two others injured after a deadly two-vehicle crash occurred in Center City early Sunday morning last week.

The crash occurred at around 4:45 a.m. Sunday, June 25 on eastbound Interstate 676, just east of Broad Street.

Rescuers arrived at the scene and located a 2004 Saab blocking the left lane of the roadway and a 2004 Chevy Tahoe blocking the right lane. It was not clear why the two vehicles collided.

Phillip West, a pedestrian, was found lying on the highway and was rushed to Hahnemann University Hospital with extremely serious injuries. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, West was pronounced dead.

Christopher Boyd Nevatt, 24, of Warminster who was the driver of the Saab, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The passenger of the Tahoe, 29-year-old Shamika Trice was also transported to Hahnemann with moderate injuries.

The accident led to the closure of the highway lanes until 8 a.m. when they were reopened.
