Piffard Man Killed in Crash on Route 15 in Tioga County

Tioga County, PA (July 19, 2017) – A Piffard man’s life was cut short early Monday morning when he was involved in a fatal collision in Tioga County, as per a local new source article.

James Anthony Vitale, 65, was identified as the man who was killed in a crash at around 1:45 a.m. Monday, July 17 on Route 15 near the Pennsylvania State Police in Mansfield.

Vitale was traveling northbound on the highway in his Chevy Aveo when the vehicle veered to the right shoulder and struck a Peterbilt tractor with an attached trailer bed. The tractor was being operated by Norbert Rodriguez Jr., 44, of Vienna.

Vitale, who was wearing a seatbelt, was declared dead at the scene. Rodriguez Jr. was not hurt.

Police officers closed the northbound lane of Route 15 for several hours following the accident. It was later reopened at around 6:30 a.m.
