Devin Derkach, 21, Hit and Injured in Pedestrian Versus Car Accident in Fayette County

Dunbar, Pennsylvania (August 10, 2017) – A man walking on a Fayette County Road was struck by a hit-and-run driver, according to police.

The man identified as Devin Derkach, 21, was struck by a car as he was walking towards a gas station from the Fayette County Fair.

The incident occurred last week on Route 119 in Fayette County.

Derkach was heading to the gas station on Route 119 where he was to be picked by his friend. According to his family, he was waving at his friend when he was struck by the car.

Derkach mentioned that the driver of the involved car stopped at first to check on him, but then fled the scene before the ambulance arrived.

Derkach was airlifted by a helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital where doctors had to amputate his foot and leg.

Pennsylvania state police are looking for a Burgundy KIA Sorento with LED headlights and damaged at the front end.

An investigation into the incident is still underway.
